SYDNEY, Aug 31 AAP - It could be a case of third time lucky for Triple Honour in the Chelmsford Stakes with the six-year-old showing all the signs of being in the best form of his career.

The 2008 Doncaster winner finished second to Gallant Tess in the Chelmsford later that year and was third in the race won by O'Lonhro 12 months ago.

His form over the 12 months following trainer Chris Waller's breakthrough Group One victory in the Doncaster was mixed but 2010 has so far been a positive year.

His biggest threat in the 1600m Group Two at Randwick on Saturday could come from stablemate Metal Bender who beat him home in the Warwick Stakes.

"Metal Bender and Triple Honour both look like they've improved out of the Warwick Stakes," Waller said.

"I am very happy with Triple Honour, he gets stronger and easier to train each year.

"Glyn Schofield will ride him and Hugh Bowman will be back on Metal Bender.

"Metal Bender will go to Melbourne after Saturday to get ready for the Underwood Stakes while Triple Honour will stay in Sydney for the Hill Stakes and the Craven Plate."

Triple Honour showed he was back on top of his game last preparation with his second to Road To Rock in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and third to Metal Bender in the Doomben Cup.

He finally got a stakes win for the preparation when he took out the Group Two Eagle Farm Cup (2200m) in June.

Triple Honour came from back in the field in the Warwick Stakes (1400m) on August 21 to get within a short neck of Metal Bender.

He finished three-quarters of a length ahead of another stablemate Danleigh who will be at Flemington on Saturday.

"Danleigh is on the truck tonight going to Melbourne for the Makybe Diva," Waller said on Tuesday.

"I think the trip away will do him good.

"As he gets older it's getting harder to get him fit and he's probably about ten kilos over his ideal weight.

"Last year when we took him to Melbourne he lost that weight on the trip so I'm hoping that happens again.

"There is no problem bringing him back to Sydney for the George Main Stakes three weeks later.

"Last preparation the trip away was a big advantage."

Danleigh won the Group One Manikato Stakes (1200m) last year but Waller has extended him in the intervening 12 months to longer trips for success over 1500 metres in the George Ryder and a close fifth to another stablemate, Rangirangdoo, in the Doncaster.
